UMBAI: With foot-tapping party numbers like
'Abhi Toh Party Shuru hui Hai' and 'Saturday
Saturday', rapper Badshah is carving his niche in
tinsel town. The rapper has no fear of being
stereotyped or being compared to his
contemporary- Yo Yo Honey Singh. He deems that
Bollywood is big enough to accommodate many
more rappers like him.
"Comparisons are bound to happen between Yo Yo
and me, as we sing the same genre of songs. Also
in India there are not many eminent rappers so I
am fine with people comparing me. I have no
qualms being compared to Yo Yo Honey Singh"
said Badshah.
According to him rapping holds an edge over
singing as one can easily grab the attention of the
audiences with the melody, but rapping has no
melodies. "It is the quirkiness that grabs the ear
buds. I am extremely meticulous about the songs I
write and make sure that I create something that is
heard before," he explained.
When asked about his upcoming projects in
Bollywood, he remained tightlipped about the same
but added that a new single will be released in
January 2015 under Sony Music. "The shooting for
the song will resume soon and we are planning to
a feature a Bollywood actress," revealed the
'Proper Patola' singer.
The rapper will soon be performing for the first
time in Mumbai on 3rd December 2014 for Outcry
Entertainment and has a special gift for concert
attendees. "Hailing from North India, people over
there have a lot of misconceptions about
Mumbaikars, but when I came here the case was
different. The love that has been showered on me
by Mumbaikars is amazing. Thus, I plan to write a
special song for them," he said.
Despite performing for a while now, he still
develops cold feet before each of his
performances. Talking about pre gig preparations,
he elaborated, "It is mostly about sound check and
right before the performance, I like to have silence
around me. I get really annoyed even if a phone
rings around me. Silence helps me focus better."
His playlist encompasses all genres of music. "I
listen to almost anything and everything that
pleases my ears. Be it a ghazal, or something as
international as Coldplay or even EDM," he said
signing off.

Honey Singh's song Party All Night in Akshay Kumar 's upcoming film Boss was at the centre of controversy recently. Producers of the movie had to submit a petition in Delhi High Court claiming that they have 'muted' the alleged vulgar word in Honey Singh's song. The court was hearing a petition filed by lawyer Sanjay Bhatnagar seeking a stay on the film, contending that without censor board's approval, the song could not be released with such a vulgar word. The petition had sought a stay on the release of the film till either the word or the song is deleted from the film. Akshay Kumar, however, does not think the allegation holds any value. Talking about Honey Singh's song in his upcoming film Boss, Kumar says, "Wo koi vulgar word tha nai. Ab kisiko kuch aur sunai de to isme unke kaan ki galti hai na ki humari." (The word was not vulgar at
all. They must have heard it wrongly. Theblame lies on those who heard it wrong, notus.)
